1. What is the EDiSU Pavia Scholarship?

EDiSU Pavia is the public right-to-study body serving students of the University of Pavia. Each year, it publishes calls for scholarships and college accommodation. The benefits are awarded through a separate application process based mainly on the student’s financial position and academic merit. University admission alone does not create an EDiSU application.

For the 2026/27 academic year, students submit the benefits application online through EDiSU Student Online Services. One confirmed application must include every benefit the student wants. Multiple benefit applications by the same student are not allowed, and the earliest deadline among the selected benefits controls the case.

2. Benefits and the €8,248 Package

The scholarship is a package, not always a single cash payment. Depending on the student’s income band, geographic status and accommodation route, it can include a monetary share, one meal per day, accommodation support or an EDiSU college room. Eligible students may also receive university-fee exemption under the call.

How the €8,248 Package Works

For a qualifying off-site student in the lowest income band, the total package can be worth €8,248:

• Private accommodation route: €7,419 monetary share plus one meal per day, producing a total package value of €8,248.
• EDiSU college route: €4,479 monetary share plus the EDiSU room and one meal per day, producing a total package value of €8,248.
• University-fee exemption is a separate benefit and should not be described as part of the cash amount.

3. Application Deadlines

The most important decision is whether the student wants scholarship only, housing only, or housing together with scholarship. A student requesting housing must follow the earlier housing deadline.

Can Indian students apply before admission, visa or arrival in Italy?

Yes. An Indian student can submit the EDiSU application from India before completing University of Pavia enrolment and before receiving an Italian study visa. This is especially important for IMAT applicants because the EDiSU housing deadline comes before the English Medicine admission test.

EDiSU Pavia includes a clause for foreign students: income earned abroad and declared by the foreign student must be no less than €10,179.85. The call links this figure to the minimum financial resources required for an Italian study visa.

This rule is unusual and easily misunderstood. It does not mean families should alter or manufacture income certificates. Submit true, officially certified figures. If genuine certified income is below €10,179.85, obtain written clarification from EDiSU before applying.

7. Class 12 Mark Conversion

The call requires an Italian-equivalent score of at least 70 out of 100 for specified first-year applicants. This does not mean an Indian student needs a raw 70% in Class 12, because foreign marks are converted using the official Italian formula.
