Programme overview

The University of Parma Foundation Year is a 10–11 month preparatory programme for international students who need to bridge educational and/or language gaps before entering Italian higher education. For 2026/27 the course runs from September 2026 to July 2027 and students can choose a study programme delivered in Italian or English. The English option combines language preparation, Italian culture/intercultural communication, academic courses selected from the University's offer and orientation toward the student's intended degree. Attendance is mandatory and the current programme indicates 60 credits/1,500 hours of total study commitment.

For Indian applicants

most CBSE/ISC/Indian State Board Class 12 pathways normally represent 12 years of schooling, so a Foundation Year is usually not required solely to reach Italy's 12-year schooling rule. It can still be useful where the student needs academic/language preparation or where the target degree/university specifically accepts the Foundation route. Before paying, compare this programme with the entry rules of the Bachelor's/Single-Cycle degree you ultimately want to join. A Foundation certificate does not automatically guarantee admission to limited-access degrees or replace an entrance test unless the university explicitly says so.
