How We Predict Your University Admissions Chances
Admissions to English-taught MBBS programs in Italy are profile-free; they depend entirely on your score and the strategy of your university choice. Here is how our predictor selects your matches:
1. Cutoff Data Alignment
We compare your score against the verified IMAT cutoff public universities Italy records from the last three years (2022 to 2024) to evaluate historical competitiveness.
2. Quota Matrix Mapping
Seats are strictly partitioned. Our engine filters targets using the specific non-EU IMAT cutoffs and seat lists, which differ significantly from EU candidate pathways.
3. Odds Calculation
The selection engine calculates whether your projected score places you in the green (Strong Chance), yellow (Borderline), or red (Low Chance / Reach School) tier for each faculty.

The Strategic 'One Choice' Registration Strategy Explained
Why is university selection strategy so critical for non-EU applicants? Unlike EU students, your first choice is your only chance.
The Single Choice Constraint
When registering on the official Universitaly portal in July, international (non-EU) candidates must select **one and only one** Italian public university. You cannot make a preference list of multiple universities.
- No Reassignments: If your chosen university's cutoff is 52 points and you score 50 points, you will be rejected. You cannot transfer your score to another university even if that university has a cutoff of 40 points and unfilled seats.
- Seat Matrix Impact: Larger faculties like Pavia (40 seats) or Caserta (50 seats) offer broader ranking distributions compared to Bologna (10 seats) or Turin (32 seats).
- Cutoff Discrepancies: Northern faculties (Milan, Bologna) historically have cutoffs 10 to 15 points higher than Southern faculties (Bari, Messina).
Historical Admission Trends & Cutoff Minimums
Analyze the historical non-EU seat matrix allocations and first-scroll cutoff thresholds to evaluate the difficulty of each university choice.
| University Name | Location | Non-EU Seats | 2024 Non-EU Cutoff |
|---|---|---|---|
| University of Milan (Statale) | Milan | 18 | 58.5 |
| University of Bologna | Bologna | 10 | 56.2 |
| Sapienza University of Rome | Rome | 16 | 54.0 |
| University of Pavia | Pavia | 40 | 52.8 |
| University of Campania (Vanvitelli) | Caserta / Naples | 50 | 44.5 |
| University of Messina | Messina | 38 | 39.8 |
*Note: Cutoffs indicate the first-scroll score matching parameters. Southern public universities historically demonstrate lower cutoff requirements, making them excellent safety targets.
